Tulu film 'Detective Divakar', presented by Coastalwood Cinemas in association with Vibha Production and written and directed by Sunil Kadthala, is scheduled for theatrical release on 4 December.

The announcement was made on Saturday, 7 November. It adds another Tulu title to the December release line-up, at a time when Tulu cinema has been drawing audiences to theatres.

The team behind the film

The film is produced by Amruth Rau J, with Sunil Shetty as executive producer. The technical team includes cinematographer Neelesh Shetty and music by Gagan Deep and Praveen Jarkala.

The team brings together people who have worked in Tulu cinema before. Sunil Kadthala, who wrote and directed the film, leads a crew drawn from the coastal film industry.

A December release

The film will release in theatres on 4 December. The date puts it in the December line-up alongside other regional releases, including the Kannada film Vadiraja Valaga Mandali, which is also planned for release by end-December.

Theatrical release is the plan, with no mention of a streaming release in the announcement. The makers are betting on audiences coming to theatres for a Tulu detective story.

What is still awaited

Cast and theatre details were still awaited at the time of the announcement. The makers have not yet shared the full cast list or the list of theatres where the film will screen.

Those details are expected closer to the release date. For now, the announcement confirms the film, its makers and its release date.

Tulu cinema's December

December is shaping up as a busy month for coastal cinema. Detective Divakar joins the list of Tulu and Kannada films from the region that are heading to theatres in the same period.

The film's release on 4 December will be watched as a test of how Tulu films perform in theatres in the festive season.

The makers' plan

Coastalwood Cinemas, presenting the film with Vibha Production, has put its name behind a Tulu title with a December release. The production team and the technical crew are in place, and the release date is set.

The next steps are the cast announcement and the theatre list, which will show how wide the release will be.
