Sonu Nigam's son, Nevaan Nigam, is carving his own path in music. On Saturday, the playback singer took to his Instagram and shared a post announcing his son's venture into the world of short films and music videos.

Sharing a picture, the singer wrote a long note, saying, "On this auspicious and pious occasion of Diwali, Nevaan embarks upon his journey into the world of Music venturing into a path far flung from his Grandfather and Father to explore his own horizons."

Nevaan is moving away from the playback singing tradition of his family. His grandfather, Agam Kumar Nigam, was also a singer, and Sonu Nigam is one of India's best-known playback voices.

A musical childhood in the studio

Sonu Nigam said his son has been surrounded by music since he was a child. "From 'Kolaveri Di' in studio at age 4 to 'Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin' live on stage at age 4 and a half, he's been fortunate to receive your enormous and unfathomable love."

Nevaan sang in the studio when he was four, and he sang live on stage at the age of four and a half. The note closed with an appeal to fans. "Give him your love.. Presenting 'Slide' BY NEVAAN NIGAM"

Slide is a sci-fi short film in which Nevaan Nigam plays the protagonist, who travels back in time through a time-travel device. The work blends music with a short film, and it is presented as his first step as an independent artist.

A debut timed with Diwali

Sonu Nigam announced Slide on Diwali, and the song had been teased for several days with countdown posts. The full track was released on 6 November.

While the film may be a family affair in spirit, the sound and the story are Nevaan's own. The short film presents not just a song but a complete idea.

It was a proud moment for Sonu Nigam, and his note read as a father's blessing rather than a formal introduction.

What comes next for Nevaan

Nevaan joins a growing list of young independent artists who are finding audiences directly through short films and music videos rather than through film soundtracks.

Whether Slide finds an audience will become clear in the coming days, and fans are already wishing him well.
