Vadodara businessman Parvez Sabbir Ali Syed, 43, of Bahar Colony, Ajwa Road, complained to Chandkheda police on 6 November. He alleged that Ahmedabad woman Sonia Mohammad Faizan Sheikh and Build Future proprietor Jayesh Prafulchandra Shah cheated him of Rs 15 lakh.

The complaint names two people: Sonia Mohammad Faizan Sheikh of Ahmedabad, and Jayesh Prafulchandra Shah, the proprietor of a firm called Build Future.

The promise made

Syed alleged he was promised Rs 2.5 lakh a month for 10 months, a total of Rs 25 lakh, for investing in the stock-market firm. The firm was located at Center Point Complex, Jagatpur.

The investment was made on 16 September 2025. The promise was of high monthly returns, far above what a normal investment would give.

What he received

Syed alleged he received nothing in return for his investment. The promised monthly payments of Rs 2.5 lakh never came, and the Rs 15 lakh he had put in was gone.

He also said the security cheque given to him was returned as cancelled. The cheque was meant to be his security for the investment, but it could not be encashed.

The complaint

Chandkheda police registered a cheating and breach-of-trust case on the basis of Syed's complaint. The case is against Sonia Mohammad Faizan Sheikh and Jayesh Prafulchandra Shah.

The police will now investigate the complaint, including the investment, the promises made and the cheque that was returned as cancelled.

The allegations in full

The allegations are that the two accused promised high returns on a stock-market investment, took Rs 15 lakh, paid nothing, and gave a security cheque that turned out to be cancelled. These are allegations made in the complaint, and they have not yet been tested in court.

The case will proceed on the basis of the evidence the police collect, including the investment records, the cheque and the statements of the people involved.

What happens next

The investigation will look at Build Future, the firm at Center Point Complex, Jagatpur, and at the roles of the two accused. The police will also check whether others were promised similar returns.

For Syed, the complaint is the first step in trying to recover his Rs 15 lakh. The case will decide whether the promises made to him were a fraud or a failed investment.
