Kadaba man Prasad, a resident of Konaje village in Dakshina Kannada, was arrested for allegedly attacking a woman friend of three years with an iron rod in a car at Bisile Ghat. The attack took place on the evening of Wednesday, 4 November.

Police allege that Prasad attacked the woman with intent to murder. The woman was left unconscious in the car after the attack.

The woman regains consciousness

The woman regained consciousness on the morning of 5 November. She then reached Subrahmanya and was hospitalised for treatment.

The gap between the attack on the evening of 4 November and her regaining consciousness the next morning shows how serious the attack was. She was alone through the night before she could get help.

Case registered at Subrahmanya

Subrahmanya police registered a case under BNS Sections 118(1) and 109(1) against Prasad. The sections cover voluntarily causing hurt and attempt to murder.

The case was registered after the woman reached Subrahmanya and her condition was known. The police then moved to arrest the accused.

Handed over to Yesalur police

After the arrest, Prasad was handed over to Yesalur police in Hassan district. Bisile Ghat falls under the jurisdiction of Yesalur police, which is why the case was transferred there.

The handover means the investigation will now be handled by the police station that has jurisdiction over the place where the attack happened.
