Mangaluru-based author, orator and advocate Reshel Bretny Fernandes has been featured in the national-level magazine Femmetimes among its Top 10 Impacting Women, for her contributions through writing and her work in society.

She was honoured following her selection for the recognition, which acknowledges women whose writing and work have had a wider impact.

Fernandes has gained recognition for her writings on nation-building, youth participation and India's vision for the future. Her books include 'Bharat@2047: Role of Youth', 'Incredible India: Vision for Viksit Bharat' and 'Voice of Nation: Youth and Politics'.

A young voice shaping the vision for 2047

In its feature, Femmetimes highlighted her as a young voice shaping the vision for 2047, particularly through her writings and engagement with political and social issues. The magazine's focus on the 2047 horizon matches the theme of her books, which look at the role of young people in building the India of the centenary year.

Her writing connects questions of governance, youth participation and national purpose. The recognition notes that her work has reached readers well beyond Mangaluru, through books, public speaking and engagement with young audiences.

Apart from her literary pursuits, Fernandes is serving as the district general secretary of Dakshina Kannada Youth Congress. The role keeps her in regular contact with young people across the district, the same audience her books are written for.

Honours that keep coming

Her earlier honours include the She Inspire Award, presented at the Women Leadership Conference 2026 in Ahmedabad on 20 September, where she was recognised for her contribution to literature and her role in engaging and inspiring young people.

She was also conferred the Lead Her Award by the Stree Organisation in Bengaluru, and has received the Youth Icon Award and the Young Achiever Award for her work.

Fernandes is a law graduate from SDM Law College in Mangaluru. Her books have sought to connect with readers through themes of youth, governance and nation-building.

What the recognition means for Mangaluru

For Mangaluru, the Femmetimes feature is another national-level recognition for a young writer from the city. The honour adds another chapter to the city's recent run of literary achievements.

The Top 10 Impacting Women feature acknowledges women whose writings and initiatives have made an impact in society. For Fernandes, the recognition places her among writers whose work has gone beyond books to engage with public life too.

Her next work will be watched closely by readers who have followed her books on youth, governance and nation-building.
