Oppo has confirmed that its Reno 17 series will launch in China on Monday, 9 November 2026. The lineup is expected to include the standard Reno 17 and the Reno 17 Pro, and the launch event will also cover the Oppo Pad Air 6 tablet and the Watch 5 smartwatch. Pre-orders are already open on Oppo's China store, though the company has not announced prices yet.

Glowing cat design is the talking point

Oppo's official teaser video on Weibo shows that the Reno 17 keeps the familiar square camera island with three camera rings and an LED flash. The new element is a glowing cat-like light on the back panel, which gives the phone a different visual identity from the Reno 16 series. The Reno 16 used a 3D Pop Planet design with a floating planetary effect and a glitter finish.

Leaked colour options for the Reno 17 series include Snow White, Ice Moon White, Cocoa Brown, Starlight Pink and Encounter Cat. Oppo has so far teased lighter blue, white and brown tones in its official material. The Encounter Cat finish is expected to be the one linked to the illuminated design seen in the teaser.

The design keeps the same general layout as the Reno 16 series, but the glowing finish is the clearest change. For buyers who follow the Reno line, the cat design is the detail that sets this generation apart at first glance.

Larger batteries are the main upgrade

The Reno 17 is tipped to feature a 6.5-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display and a battery of around 8,000mAh. That would be a notable increase over the Reno 16 series, which offered batteries of up to 6,700mAh. The Reno 17c is tipped to pack a 7,000mAh battery, while the Reno 17 Pro is tipped to get a 7,200mAh cell with 80W charging.

All three phones are reportedly getting 1.5K OLED displays with 120Hz refresh rates, 80W wired charging and IP69-rated protection against dust and water. A dedicated Snap Key is also tipped for the lineup. The Reno 17c may be the only model with a plastic frame.

The battery jump matters because it is the largest single upgrade over the previous generation. The Reno 16 offered a 6,700mAh battery and the Reno 16c had a larger 7,000mAh cell, both with 80W charging. If the leaked figures hold, the standard Reno 17 would carry the biggest battery in the series so far.

Cameras score big upgrades

The Reno 17 is expected to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and ship with ColorOS 17 based on Android 17. It may feature a triple 50MP camera setup. The Reno 17c could use the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor.

The Reno 17 Pro is tipped to get the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 chipset with a 6.3-inch 1.5K flat OLED display. Leaks point to a 200MP main camera with a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP telephoto lens on the Pro, plus a 50MP selfie camera. Tipster Digital Chat Station has also claimed that the Reno 17 and Reno 17 Pro would feature 50MP periscope telephoto cameras.

These specifications are leaks and should be treated as unconfirmed until Oppo announces them. The reported chipset choices suggest limited performance gains over the previous generation, which could be a way for Oppo to manage costs amid rising component prices. The emphasis this time appears to be on battery life and camera hardware rather than raw speed.

India launch details and prices

Oppo has not officially confirmed the India launch date or availability. Tipster Debayan Roy, known as Gadgetsdata, has claimed the series will arrive in India in December 2026. A separate report from Smartprix has suggested a January 2027 launch instead.

The India lineup may look different from the China lineup. Reports suggest only the Reno 17 and Reno 17c will launch in India, with the Reno 17 Pro possibly skipped. Tipster Yogesh Brar has claimed the company might not bring the Pro model to India at all.

Price expectations are also based on leaks. The Reno 17 may sit in the sub-Rs 70,000 to Rs 80,000 bracket, while the Reno 17c could sit in the sub-Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 range. For comparison, the Reno 16 and Reno 16c launched in India in July 2026 starting at Rs 61,999 and Rs 46,999 respectively. Buyers considering the Reno 16 or Reno 16c may want to wait for the December launch if battery life and camera versatility are priorities.
