Excluding Dhurandhar 2, Nelson Dilipkumar's Rajinikanth film Jailer 2 has become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2026, and the highest-grossing Tamil film ever. Meanwhile, Drishyam 3, running for 29 days, has also left nothing undone at the box office, with a jump in collections on Friday, its 29th day. In theatres for eight days, Udta Teer is moving ahead slowly but steadily.
In Jailer 2, Rajinikanth plays Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, who now lives a quiet life with his family as a supermarket supervisor near Anaikatti in Coimbatore, with his family unaware that he killed Arjun. Now far from his bloody and violent past, he lives an anonymous life with his wife Vijaya, played by Ramya Krishnan, daughter-in-law Shweta and family. After Varman and his son were killed in the first film, Varman's close associate Dilip and an international idol-smuggling syndicate try to find out who killed Varman, and eventually reach Muthuvel Pandian. When the gang threatens his family and loved ones, Tiger Muthuvel Pandian is forced to return to action once again. Audiences have liked the film's story a lot.
