Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh kicked off his Aura India Tour in style at Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday. Thousands of fans were present as Diljit set the mood with his superhit songs, but the concert became a talking point for more than just the music, with one remark and one emotional moment stealing the show.

Responding to his critics, Diljit said, "Don't teach Punjabis to fight." The crowd erupted in applause at the line. He then expressed his love for everyone present, saying, "I love you all."

The July controversy behind the remark

The remark connects to a controversy that began in July 2026. During student protests at Jantar Mantar, Diljit was asked whether he would join the protest or share his opinion on it. He replied, "Keep me away from all this. Brother, I am an artist, not a leader." He also said he did not know about the protest and wanted to stay away from politics. The reply went viral on social media, and many people saw his comment as silence on an important issue and criticised him.

In July itself, however, Diljit shared a post on social media expressing support for the protesting students. He said the way the students were treated was sad and should not have happened, and appealed to the authorities to listen to the students' demands. He also said that the people's voice is God's voice.

The CRPF jawan moment

An emotional moment of the concert came when Diljit invited a CRPF woman jawan on stage. He thanked her for her service and asked the audience to applaud her. Diljit said, "If you are not here, we cannot feel safe. You have done so much for us. Thank you very much." Seeing her reminded him of his mother, he said, adding that his mother had called him on the day of the concert and asked him to take care of himself.
