The Junior Cricket Committee has announced India's 15-member squad for the ACC Men's U19 Asia Cup, to be played in Muscat, Oman, from November 5 to 14.

Lakshya Raichandani will captain the side, with Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan named vice-captain, in the first squad picked by the newly appointed junior selection panel led by Parvinder Awana.

The squad features two famous names, with Aaryavir Sehwag, son of former India opener Virender Sehwag, and wicketkeeper Anvay Dravid, son of former India captain and coach Rahul Dravid, both included.

Sehwag and Dravid headline the squad

Aaryavir Sehwag has caught the eye with aggressive and consistent batting in domestic under-19 tournaments and India A matches, in a style that reminds many of his father.

The top order will carry extra responsibility in this Asia Cup, and much of that weight will fall on Aaryavir's shoulders after his recent strong performances.

Anvay Dravid has been picked as a wicketkeeper-batter after impressing with his batting and sharp keeping in domestic and India U19 warm-up matches.

Like his father, Anvay is known for a technically sound and patient style, and he has played important innings under pressure to seal his place in the team.

Group A challenge and fixtures

India have been placed in Group A alongside defending champions Pakistan, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates.

Group B comprises Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Malaysia, with the top two teams from each group reaching the semi-finals.

India will begin their campaign against Nepal on November 6 at OCC Turf 1 in Muscat, before facing Pakistan at the same venue on November 8.

The group stage will conclude against the UAE on November 10 at OCC Turf 2, with the semi-finals scheduled for November 12 and the final on November 14.

A settled squad with one change

India have made only one change from the squad that beat Australia 3-0 in the Youth ODIs, replacing Chigurupati Venkata with Ishan Sood.

That continuity should help the team settle quickly in Muscat, where conditions will test both batters and bowlers.

The full squad is: Lakshya Raichandani (captain), Aaryavir Sehwag, V.K. Vineeth, Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan (vice-captain), Kushagra Ojha, Arjun Rajput, Manal Chauhan, Anvay Dravid (wicketkeeper), Rajat Baghel (wicketkeeper), V. Yashveer, Aryan Savsani, Mohit Ulva, Kavya Patel, Shavin Vinod and Ishan Sood.

With a strong core and two of Indian cricket's most famous surnames in the ranks, India will enter the tournament as one of the favourites.
