A 21-year-old man drowned in the backwaters of the Harangi dam near Herur village in Kushalnagar taluk on Wednesday (October 21), where he had gone swimming with friends. The deceased has been identified as Rameez, son of Razak, a resident of Hoskote near Suntikoppa.
Home on leave from Bengaluru
Rameez was working in Bengaluru and had returned home on leave. On Wednesday, he went swimming in the backwaters with five friends. During the swim, he went missing in the water, and his friends raised an alarm.
Body recovered after search
Diving expert Ishwar Malpe, who was alerted about the incident, reached the spot and conducted a search operation in the backwaters. Rameez's body was subsequently recovered from the water.
The Suntikoppa Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
