A remark about Chief Justice of India Surya Kant made from Kerala Congress's official social media account has now reached the Supreme Court. After a complaint by advocate Vineet Jindal, a writ petition has been registered in the Supreme Court against the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee.

According to case details available on the Supreme Court's website, the case is titled Vineet Jindal versus Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee. It was registered on 30 October. Vineet Jindal and Sreejesh SR are the petitioners in the plea, while the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee has been made the respondent.

What the post said

Vineet Jindal objected to a post from Kerala Congress's official X account, @INCKerala, addressing the Chief Justice. The post said, "If maintaining law and order is not in your jurisdiction, then resign. We will find someone who can handle it." In his complaint, Jindal described the post as an issue connected to the dignity of the judiciary and the reputation of the Supreme Court as an institution, and sought consideration of criminal contempt proceedings and appropriate action.

Case status so far

For now, the case shows as pending on the Supreme Court's website. No information is available yet about a hearing on the petition or any order passed by the court. The matter will move forward only when the court takes it up, and until then the petition remains at the registration stage.
