Alanna Panday

Early life and education

Alanna Panday was born on 16 August 1995 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She was born into the Panday family, which has long-standing connections to the Indian film and entertainment industry. Her father, Aloke Sharad Panday, known as Chikki Panday, is a businessman and the younger brother of Bollywood actor Chunky Panday. Her mother, Deanne Panday, is a fitness expert, author and health coach. She has a younger brother, Ahaan Panday, an actor, born on 23 December 1997. Her extended family includes her uncle Chunky Panday, aunt Bhavana Panday and cousins Ananya Panday and Rysa Panday. She is also related to the Sajdeh family through her father's side: fashion designer Seema Sajdeh is her cousin. Alanna spent her early years in Mumbai before moving to the United Kingdom for higher education. The family is multi-faith: her father is Hindu and her mother is Christian, and the siblings were given both Hindu and Christian names. Alanna's Hindu name is Chandni, after the film Chandni, and her brother's is Yash, after the Yash Raj Films banner.

Education

Alanna completed her schooling at Oberoi International School in Mumbai. She then attended the London College of Fashion in London, United Kingdom, where she studied fashion management and marketing. Her education gave her an academic background in fashion, branding and the creative industries.

Career

Modelling and social media. Panday began building her career through modelling, fashion blogging and social media. She started posting as a digital creator on Instagram in 2019, sharing content on fashion, beauty, lifestyle, travel and personal experiences, and her work attracted attention from fashion publications and brands. In November 2019, she was featured in The Peacock Magazine in an editorial titled "Nouveau Act – Alanna Panday", which discussed her modelling work, fashion interests, experiences as an influencer and education at the London College of Fashion. She also spoke about the role her mother played in encouraging her career. She has modelled for designers including Manish Malhotra, including his MyGlamm beauty line, and is associated with the modelling agency Freedom Models in Los Angeles. Her brand work has included collaborations with Dior, Fenty Beauty, Urban Decay, Revolve and Louis Vuitton, as well as YSL Beauty, Issey Miyake Parfums and Anastasia Beverly Hills, and a capsule ethnic collection with KALKI. She has also been a brand ambassador for Coco & Eve and KOOVS.

Content creation in Los Angeles. After developing her career in India, Panday established a professional and personal base in Los Angeles, California, United States. In 2020 she and her husband, Ivor McCray, launched their joint YouTube channel, Alanna & Ivor, where they document their travels, family life and creative projects. The channel has around 2 million subscribers. Her Instagram account, @alannapanday, has around 2.5 million followers. Her content focuses on fashion, beauty, travel, relationships and family experiences. She has also discussed the challenges of developing a career while living abroad and working in the digital content industry. In May 2025, the couple said in a YouTube video that their earnings from YouTube and Instagram had made them financially independent, and that they could retire within five years if they chose to.

Television debut, The Tribe. In 2024, Panday made her streaming television debut with The Tribe, an Indian reality series released on Amazon Prime Video. Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, directed by Omkar Potdar and written by Aneesha Baig, the nine-episode series follows a group of young Indian content creators pursuing opportunities and international recognition in Los Angeles. It premiered on 4 October 2024, in Hindi with English subtitles. Panday appeared alongside Alaviaa Jaaferi, Alfia Jafry, Aryaana Gandhi, Srushti Porey and Hardik Zaveri. The series was part of Prime Video India's 2024 content slate and was executive-produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Aneesha Baig. Panday is also a co-founder of CollabTribe, the creator collective at the centre of the show. Her appearance in the series introduced her work and personal experiences to a wider streaming audience. In an interview with India Today in October 2024, she discussed her career choices, family background, life in Los Angeles and the experience of balancing content creation with motherhood.

Personal Life

Relationship and marriage. Panday met American filmmaker and photographer Ivor McCray through mutual friends at a Halloween party in Los Angeles in November 2019. The couple subsequently began dating, moved in together in Los Angeles, and started creating content together. In November 2021, McCray proposed to Panday during a vacation in the Maldives. The couple announced their engagement through social media. On 16 March 2023, Panday married Ivor McCray in a wedding ceremony held in Mumbai, India, following Hindu rituals. The celebrations included traditional pre-wedding functions such as mehendi and haldi, and were attended by members of the Panday family and several personalities from the Indian entertainment industry, including Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan. The wedding had a "white whisper" theme with nature-inspired decor.

Children. In February 2024, Panday announced her first pregnancy. In June 2024, Panday and McCray welcomed their first child, a son named River. The couple have shared aspects of their experience as parents through their social media accounts. On 8 August 2026, the couple announced that they were expecting their second child, sharing a video featuring River with the caption "One more to love". In September 2026, they revealed that they were expecting a daughter. The announcement was followed by a pink, fairytale-themed baby shower at her parents' Mumbai residence on 8 October 2026, attended by family including Ananya Panday and Ahaan Panday.

Online harassment (2020). In June 2020, Panday spoke publicly about the abuse she received online, including rape threats and slut-shaming comments on photographs of herself in swimwear. She said the comments had become an everyday part of her life. Actors Lara Dutta and Bipasha Basu were among those who spoke out in her support.
