It happened in the middle of the day, on a busy road, in front of everyone. A man returning from the gym in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar was knocked off his scooter on Thursday, October 22, and then beaten to death where he fell. The killing, in the N-7 area of CIDCO, has been captured on CCTV.
The victim is Devesh alias Bunty Dixit. Early police information says the man accused of the attack is Pawan Parashar, and that the two had a history.
Rammed From Behind, Then Attacked on the Road
Going by the preliminary account, Parashar's car hit Dixit's scooter from behind near Bajrang Chowk. Dixit went down on the road, and Parashar then allegedly struck him repeatedly on the head and face with a hockey stick and an iron rod.
Dixit died on the spot. CCTV cameras recorded the sequence; the footage is disturbing, and the visuals need blurring before any broadcast use.
Accused Walks Into the Police Station
After the attack, Parashar reportedly went to the CIDCO police station himself. Police have seized the car said to have been used in the ramming, and the iron rod used in the assault has also been recovered, as per the available information.
He is due to be produced in court on Friday, October 23. What the investigation establishes next, on motive and on the events leading up to the confrontation, is awaited.

What is known so far points to a long-running dispute. Dixit ran a mess and was also in the plotting business, and investigators are looking at both an old rivalry and a possible business fallout as motives.
